Point Park University Installs Sculpture by Paige Bradley

A PAIGE BRADLEY bronze sculpture was donated to Point Park University's new Conservatory building in Pittsburgh, PA

PITTSBURGH, PA, February 12, 2009 /Architecture PR News/ -- Paige Bradley's sculpture has been donated to a state-of-the-art University dance complex. 'Freedom Bound', a 3/4 life-size bronze sculpture by artist Paige Bradley, has been installed in the lobby of Point Park University's Lawrence Hall. Point Park, a 3,500-student university located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is gaining a reputation for turning out talented stage performers. The sculpture will be visible to pedestrians and travelers along the Boulevard of the Allies. Mr. J. Tomayko, a Point Park trustee and Performing Arts Advisory Board member, purchased the sculpture for the University.

Paige Bradley's sculpture will serve as the focus of the renovated lobby and entrance to Point Park University's dance building. The complex is 44,000 square feet and contains five rehearsal studios and performance spaces. In addition to meeting the requirements for The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification, Point Park's facility also meets the benchmarks used to endorse the leading dance facilities in the country. The sculpture, 'Freedom Bound', reflects the building's inherent energy and qualities necessary for very specialized architecture.

Paige Bradley is known for her fluid and expressive figures reflecting both tension and liberation. In describing the piece Bradley said, "As we grow together, we must also grow independently. 'Freedom Bound' is about stretching the ties we weave in our relationships - expanding them in order to remain compassionate and aware to one another. I see a relationship as a dance in constant flux of stretching and compressing. It isn't always comfortable and voluntary, but in nature opposites must always exist in close proximity. This sculpture is very fitting for the Conservatory, as it is the first of its kind in new 'Green' construction and technology. We must all be compassionate and aware of our relationship to industry and the planet. When we broaden our foundations a metamorphosis begins."

Paige's work is full of dichotomies - the beautiful and the ugly, the liberated and the contained, delving into humanistic betrayals of modern emotion. Paige Bradley lives in London, England, where she currently works full time.
