Southern Cross Technologies Announces Successful Two Hour Fire Test for GreenEboard Building Panels
Southern Cross Technologies, Inc. and Southern Cross Building Products, LLC announced today the successful completion of the ASTM E-119 two hour fire test with GreenEboard tile backer and building panel in a single layer configuration.
BOYNTON BEACH, FL, May 30, 2010 /Architecture PR News/ -- Southern Cross Technologies, Inc., the developer of the patent pending GreenEboard(tm) tile backer, and Southern Cross Building Products, LLC, the manufacturer and international distributor of the product, announced on May 27, 2010 the successful completion of an ASTM E-119 two hour fire rated assembly in a certified laboratory. The assembly will meet the standards of various fire wall rating systems. The assembly is constructed with steel studs, GreenEboard 4 x 8 panels in a single layer, a tapeless joint compound and primer paint from Ameret, the developer of Trivol FlameShield fire resistant products.
Creating a wall assembly that meets the stringent requirements of a two hour fire test with a single layer of 1/2" backer board and/or wall panel is a breakthrough that will save significant labor costs and time on projects where a two hour rating is required. In addition, GreenEboard is a material that can contribute to building ratings under several sustainable construction rating systems, including LEED, the NAHB Green Building program, and others.
