Stephen George & Partners launch green reference guide

Leading architectural practice, Stephen George & Partners, who have a passionate interest in sustainable architecture, have just launched an easy to use and easy to understand guide on selecting sustainable building materials.

EXTON, UK, June 05, 2010 /Architecture PR News/ -- Leading architectural practice, Stephen George & Partners, who have a passionate interest in sustainable architecture, have just launched an easy to use and easy to understand guide on selecting sustainable building materials.

The Stephen George & Partners Guide to Building Materials and the Environment is a comprehensive, practical and interactive guide. It was originally intended to help designers consider the environmental implications of commonly (and occasionally not-so-commonly) specified materials. However, the guide is now seen to have a broader appeal to all building professionals, academics and anyone interested in sustainable architecture.

"There is a consensus amongst stakeholders in the construction industry that building materials now have to be designed and built to have minimal impact on the environment. Until now, there has been no real reference guide freely available within the industry on selecting sustainable building materials. The Stephen George & Partners guide will be a great source of information to any practice interested in designing sustainable buildings" commented Richard Nicholls, Leader for the MSc. in Sustainable Architecture run by the Department of Architecture and 3D Design at The University of Huddersfield

The reference guide is the result of a collaboration between Jo Denison and Chris Halligan who both work in the Leeds Office for Stephen George & Partners. What started out as an internal research project has evolved into a substantial volume of work that could become an industry reference guide. Both Jo and Chris intend to see the guide as an ongoing project and will continue to make revisions to reflect the advances in knowledge being achieved in this field.

The Stephen George & Partners Guide to Building Materials and the Environment is available to download free of charge from www.stephengeorge.co.uk or call 0113 2467969 to receive an interactive CD.
