Neil Sofia Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Architecture & Design
Neil Sofia is deeply passionate about architecture and believes that humans leave behind a legacy when they build structures
PACIFICA, CA, December 13, 2010 /Architecture PR News/ -- Neil Sofia, Architect and Owner of Small Buildings, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in architecture and design.
With 33 years of experience as an architect, Neil Sofia is noted for his understanding of neighborhood and project design. He has spent the majority of his career at the helm of Small Buildings, Inc., his own firm specializing in residential and commercial architectural design. In charge of all operations, Mr. Sofia designs projects, monitors draftsmen's drawings, and works on detailing for custom homes and additions. He also excels in expediting and obtaining permits and providing jobsite support. Methodological in his approach to both small and large projects, he employs a thorough set of priorities from the get-go, as well as processes that help minimize changes in the field. He has added onto, and renovated seven of his own residences in the last 30 years.
Fascinated by design and construction from an early age, Mr. Sofia became an architect because even as a child he was able to put together things that other children were not able to assemble. He always enjoyed learning about the history of these footprints and being able to leave his own. The most gratifying aspect of his career is being able to create individual based architecture, which he considers the mother of all arts, on a daily basis. He believes that this should be a privilege enjoyed by as many people and homeowners as possible.
Mr. Sofia earned his master's degree in architecture in 1977 from the University of Pennsylvania and his bachelor of arts, major in fine arts, in 1973 from Colgate University. He is a former president of his local Chamber of Commerce. In five years, Mr. Sofia plans to venture into real estate investment or other related fields, while continuing to practice architecture.
